Should Britain crackdown on tax evasion?

I’ve wondered this myself as I have wanted big corp to pay their fair share for a while.

I think the problem with clamping down on the tax loopholes is that England is a tax loophole specialist that benefits from being an off short tax haven provider in many different guises.

Take Ireland for example , they have a very low corporation tax rate so the like of Apple etc pay a large part of their tax into Ireland at a much lower rate than they really should be paying in the countries the money was made in, this is possible via “intellectual property” commissions paid into Irelands arm of the business while providing only licences for designs or similar with no actual need for any meaningful business to occur in Ireland itself.

So let’s pretend we tax the business such as Apple that have a similar agreement and currently pay tax in Ireland in the above way , If we tax those companies at a conventional rate similar to their home countries then Apple etc no longer benefit from the arrangement, meaning they leave Ireland and pay no tax there as Ireland only offers one thing to Apple etc and that is low taxation.

To summaries ; England can’t tax big corp normal amounts because 1% of something is better than 20% of nothing.

That Ireland example is just one part of the UKs tax avoiding network we allow , Guernsey, the British Cayman Islands, the citi of London, Ireland, tariff free Freeport’s, it seems like tax avoidance is not a mistake in our system but actually a feature , I’m thinking it might actually be the UKs main feature and our way to stay relevant on the world stage ?

On the world stage we can’t compete with large counties in physical produce for many reasons , such as resources and manpower , we can’t compete with mineral rich countries because of our size and the oil lottery , we aren’t competitive in our tech industry so what do we realistically provide ?

I think it’s tax havens and safe wealth stores such as land and houses.
