Should I consider answering 'no' to the disability question on apps?

I have the dilemma, I can tell you that once I applied for a job, mentioned I had a disability. I don't believe the application asked me for specifics. I ended up saying yes because the job was in an environment that could be hazardous, and I had heard that if you have a disability that you don't disclose and get injured, even if it isn't due to your disability, the employer might escape liability... Don't know how true it was, or how likely, but it wasn't worth the risk. so I said yes. it sucks, too disabled to get decent jobs, but not disabled enough to collect disability.

I don't know. but I went through all of the interviews I believe before finally someone in HR contacted me about the condition. assured me that they were just asking to make sure I don't need any special treatment. The choice was mine. if I told them what my condition was, they wouldn't tell anyone, they would only use the info for accessibility (I guess like if I needed a special chair or schedule or something?) and to record it because if they hire people with disabilities it makes them look good? certainly I can't imagine this place hiring me if I told them I was in a wheelchair or something. It just wouldn't have been possible for me to perform the job if I couldn't walk.
