Should the Democrats target the Rust Belt or the Sun Belt in the 2020 Presidential election?

This is not true at all. I'm not sure if you're from mn but the dfl hasn't lost a state election in a long time. The only reason we had a gop senator break up a long run was because Wellstone died in a crash.

Tim Pawlenty was reelected as Governor more recently than that. Also Coleman only lost a second term by 300 votes. Winning by that margin is basically random luck.

It's obvious on the ground that MN has little in common with the rest of the midwest. Trump couldn't even take it in a perfect storm.

He lost Minnesota by under two points. Imagine if the Republican nominee wasn’t an incompetent and offensive idiot. It’s very much in line with what we saw elsewhere in the Midwest. Don’t be fooled by which side of the line the votes happened to land on. Margins matter.

MN just really hated Hillary. They went with Bernie in the primary. Barring Hillary running again anybody who thinks MN is in play in 2020 needs to get better informed.

I don’t think Trump will win Minnesota in 2020, but I also don’t think Democrats can sleep on it. These trends are bigger than one election.
