Are you Autistic? Do you have people close to you who are Autistic? Is your audience the neurodivergent community, or just mainstream audiences in general? Why is the character Autistic?

As an Autistic person, finding out that a neurotypical person created an Autistic character for their work will almost guarantee I won’t bother with it. I’m very much not interested in non-Autistic people’s interpretation of Autism. I really don’t want to read you wax poetically about an Autist’s fascination with “beautiful systems”.

But if your audience is not really Autistic or neurodivergent people, they probably won’t mind much either way.
