Should I enter a relationship knowing it's going to be so emotionally distressing if it doesn't work out? Or should I wait until my BPD further improves?

Does she know about your BPD/OCD? Does she seem like a caring and patient person? I think my biggest mistake was getting involved with the wrong kind of people. Narcissistic people who were rude and encouraged me to cover up my problems with drugs and alcohol. I'm dating someone now who's very supportive of me and my recovery from BPD. He helps me find ways to cope instead of tearing me down.

It doesn't have to be a recipe for disaster. You do have to be ready to call yourself out when you mess up and work hard on making changes instead of wallowing in self pity or using bad coping mechanisms though. It can be really hard. But it's possible.
