Should fighting games follow the free to play model?

I think there is a case for it. I do not like it by any means because of how much f2p games cost but specifically with monetizing whales instead of minows, I believe there is a case for it namely it allows the dedicated players to have a say in the direction of the game.

FGs are increasingly made to target non FG players as thats where the money lies but by shifting the monetization to focus on the hardcore players, games can be made not to appeal to those who can't block low but instead made for those wjo enjoy the intricacies of fighting games.

Sure the fighting simulator with fantasy elements and its just a game dichotomy has produced many interesting attempts to cater to both sides but there are some games that just cant be made with the casuals in mind. You know, like all arcade games that are recurrantly monetizable.
