Should We Learn More About Muhammad?

Islam is not the threat to western society, or at least in the sense you mean, and is no more than any generalised threat from the poor critical thinking skills any religion spreads is. Control for poverty and education levels, and the difference between Islamic religious issues and Christian ones vanish.

The violent extremist backlash to western hostile foreign policies towards islamic countries is the actual threat.

If we treated buddhist countries the same way we do islamic countries, or orthodox christians, or any religion, or culture pretty much, we would have pretty much the same problems emerging from extremists linking themselves to those groups.

Go look up some stuff about the geopolitics of Henry Kissinger, that the US and its allies have been following for decades, and you'll learn a bit about where the real problems are coming from. Or look up the documentary "Hypernormalisation" if you want to learn about far more details relating to how the modern issues with "islamic" terrorism and even todays wider political landscape evolved.
