Should I take my Vyvanse

If you’re prescribed then on some level you may need it to function on some days. Those side effects are more of a mental block that stimulants cause, due to the dopamine downregulation, which whilst you’re off them makes you less motivated to do most things that ‘feel good’.

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter reasonable for many functions, arousal, reward, and motivation… plenty of others – pretty much all the good stuff. When you take amphetamines for a continuous amount of time, even prescribed doses, and the dopamine receptors will be down regulated due to massive release whilst on them. The brain gets used to this amount and thus when there isn’t Vyvanse to release it the brain has almost “forgotten” how to do it naturally. For it to get back to normal you have to stop the drug for a time period (depending on how long you have taken it for).

Socialising is a lot of work if you’re in that state of mind a few times a week. You don’t want to go do anything like that because there’s no reason to. The way around this is by just doing it anyway. Forget the reasons your brain comes up with – they’re not exactly you, the way you act is who you are. Set small goals and reward yourself. Make it a little game you play.

Just like with socialising work becomes a bore, a tedious collection of stuff that needs doing for some reason you gave yourself ages ago. You need to just remember that everything you do on Vyvanse is possible sober it’s just damn lot harder and longer to do. Try and get in the mental space of accepting of the difficulty and moving past it by working on it.

I’d say be wary of how you think about the drug too. That drug isn’t making you a better you it’s just making your life easier than having the symptoms of ADHD. ADHD won’t stop you learning all the material you just have to do a lot of activity gymnastics. So when you’re trying to read, read for 30 minutes, write an essay for 30 minutes… Keep switching between productive activates instead of focusing down on one. This is how I’m focusing myself.

Damn. A nice wall of text, I hope some, if not any of this, is helpful to you in anyway. Recreational user here and it’s so much easier to focus on whatever you’re doing. It’s so much fun.
