Why is this question popping up every 10 minutes on here?

YOU CAN HAVE 5 SEPARATE SAVES FOR EACH GAME MODE.

This shouldn't even be a question.

But, more specifically, all prior updates did not force you to restart if you don't want to. The worst that can happen is that your home base planet will be regenerated, so it may be a different biome and some of the terrain your base was sitting on may look a little funky, but all your progress and items will still exist, don't worry.

Beyond that, I suggest doing a fresh save file with next, because in the past updates, I always have. It's worth it to see all the new shit from the very beginning of the game, sometimes the beginning even changes, so it's worth seeing.

But still, you don't have to delete you old save, just make a second one.
