Should I spend the money on a lower quality DSLR or am I better off with the iPhone camera?

how does using an iphone teach someone about photography? honest question.

the tools are of course important. but the skill and effort of the photographer is by far the most important thing.

in good light, a modern iPhone camera can take an excellent photograph of almost any subject AS LONG AS the photographer has the skill or makes the effort to do so, and as I said - using an app that gives you full control.....

it's not about what using an iPhone can teach someone about photography, it's about what a motivated person can do with any equipment

IE learn the craft / hone the skill with the tools you have - then get better tools as needed.
