Why should I use Ubuntu?

I've been putting Ubuntu on work and home machines since Hardy Heron made it easy to do so. It's worked on PCs, Macs, blade servers, virtual machines. There have been a few hiccups but nothing another distro wouldn't have, like finding the right drivers for hardware. It's very stable, well-maintained and documented with a large following of enthusiastic users. It's a great choice for many different applications.

The whole Snap controversy, while the objectors have some worthwhile points, is overblown and not a dealbreaker. Snapd is now on all of my Ubuntu machines and it hasn't changed my workflow. It's designed to increase interoperability across distros and that's not a bad goal, and Snap itself will naturally have improved if/when it sees any kind of wide adoption. In the meantime all of the usual means of package management are still available. If you don't want to use Snap to deploy something, you can always build from source.
