I shouldn’t need to hide my boners

Sorry, this just made me realize how good it was to grow up in (a secular part of) the Netherlands. I never experienced or heard of any of those things. No idea this was going on. Periods were covered in health class and discussed openly like any other subject. Girls would raise their hand in class and ask to be excused because "I'm on my period" and unless they had a reputation of abusing this privilege, they would be excused for the remainder of that class, no questions asked. And apart from some 12 year old boys going "ewww!" whenever periods were mentioned (These boys would then be ridiculed for being sheltered and childish), the only ugliness I've ever experienced was a girl shit talking another girl, saying this other girl was using large tampons, implying and hand-gesturing that she had a large vagina.
