The way JW women are treated is NOT based on love—when my stepdad was hitting us and breaking things and called the elders and screamed “JeneeInTheCoset’s mom has __specific sti_ because she’s a whore and she had group sex with _____!” They told my mom to be more submissive. (My step dad said what he did because my mom had been gang raped before I was born).

I had no idea how deeply misogynistic the jws were until years later, or how many dangerous and antiquated ideas I carried because of that.

They have a video on jw.bOrg stating that if a woman is dressed a certain kind of way or acting a way she may be “inviting sexual assault”. This is victim blaming and total bullshit, but it’s how they act.

When an old man (former elder who had an affair so moved to our congregation to start over, as they do) groomed me (starting at 14) and took my virginity, I was punished even though I was still a minor and my mother had to be present. THINK about that. No police report was filed. I. Was. A. Child. I was surrounded by old men who wanted to know if his penis had been in my mouth, if so how many times, if he had ejaculated in my mouth, if his penis had been inside me, if so for how long, how many times, did I enjoy it? Nobody protected me because policy. There are thousands with stories far worse than mine.

I too worked a bunch of dead end jobs after turning down a special advanced math and science high school’s (by invitation only) offer to attend (it pretty much had college scholarships guaranteed for grads), but flight attendant sounds cool. (I’m in the middle of my bachelor degree atm).
