I think I’m in agreement. But I have to concede that Lebron deserves only a few major criticisms, many of which don’t have as much relevance anymore, or are becoming less and less so:

  • Past failures and choke jobs. We’ve already beaten this to death in this thread. Most players, even the best, have these.
  • Whiny-ness and Floppy-ness. Personally unforgivable.
  • Free Throws. Personally unforgivable.
  • His ‘system’ fosters dependency on him, which is why you see collapses whenever he sits in many games. Lot of people take that to mean he’s carrying the team. But really he’s giving his team no other option but to rely fully and solely on him.
  • Limited skillset. Very recently, this is becoming less and less of an issue. He’s developed a serviceable 3 ball, midrange fadeaway, etc. used to consider him just a transition player, playmaker, and bulldozer to the paint, but he’s getting some serious skill and moves.
  • Effort. Notably on the defensive end. Personally unforgivable, given the frequency and costliness.
  • Collusion for stacked teams in a weak conference. But he did beat the dubs.

I am the absolute first to hate on Lebron, mostly because of those unforgivable things above (not a fan of Harden, Wade, or CP3 either — maybe there’s a theme in there). But I can recognize that all of those players are generational talents and can live with it if the media wants to deify them.

With LBJ the frustration probably comes from — win, give him all credit, lose — blame the team. Yet he’s often been on some of he most stacked teams in his conference.
