Show and DON’T tell for next volume?

As I said

Tell, don't show" can be very much effective with the appropriate amount/context.

Not that it "is"; it just can be.

With your Blake example, that's a bit world building that wasn't balanced properly.

I loved and believed both Jaune and Ruby's scenes equally. Jaune's is heavy on the body language, and I can feel the sadness and frustration etc. from his character. That's what makes that scene for me. With Ruby,

Not because she acted out of character or was not sincere, but because she was not a person for me at that moment - but a simple tool for exposition.

Yeah- exposition on her own feelings about the entire situation. V4 Ruby got a lot of slack for not having apparent trauma or problems with the whole ordeal. I very much bought that she was internalizing everything, because as she said in V1:

we need to put our teammates first and ourselves second.

Still, I could feel the heavy weight when she was off staring somewhere with change in her expression. Then we get to Kuroyuri, and she almost broke down by blaming herself. However, it wasn't enough, because a lot of people felt like Jaune "stole the scene from her."

Flash forward to Vol. 5 Ch.5, and M&K result to just putting the cards on the table. Ruby never once had anyone ask about herself, and as someone in Oscar's situation, it makes sense why he would ask. He barely knows her, but he just needs some assurance. Ruby finally has a pedestal to vent off of for a bit to get some of that weight of her chest. It's not a lot, but it's a general overview, which was enough for me. Sure, there were it could've been better, but I felt it was a solid bit of characterization.
