Shut up and marry me

The big difference is the intention of both sayings. “Men are trash” is being used to spark a movement and bring attention to a very serious issue whereas the other is purely entertainment. It makes it feel like there’s a very serious tone to the phrase and based on comments I’ve read not everyone is saying it lightheartedly. I just think trying to raise awareness about an issue by putting people down isn’t a good way to go.

I agree that there are a lot of sexist posts on here and elsewhere but I’ve never seen something as blatant as “Men are trash” get traction anywhere. If you plugged literally any other race or gender into “X are trash” it’d be seen as bigoted so why is it chill to talk about men that way?
