I know this has been a popular opinion around here, but I'm not convinced. You can't compare OW2 to Valorant, because no one knew what Valorant was. Everyone knows what OW is already. There's no mystery, beyond the question of how much actual substance there will be to OW2 when it finally releases.

I know we all understand the massive changes coming to OW when OW2 releases, but to a non-OW player, OW2 will look exactly like OW. If someone played OW1 for a year or two after launch, it will look basically the same as they remember. I just don't see a player like that getting interested from watching a stream. This isn't a totally new franchise, it's a sequel to a game everyone on earth has played.

Can someone explain to me why this is such a sure thing, without using the logic "Valorant did it"? I just don't find the two games remotely comparable.
