sigh...ND House stops sexual orientation discrimination bill by 2-to-1.

I've got 15 minutes here. I'll bite. I don't promise to reply further, however, as I am a business owner.

I opened my business to share what I do best with people I want to see enjoy it as much as I do. I do not sell to people who put down my work, my standards, people I know, etc. because those people are offensive to me. We refuse the right to refuse service to anyone... for any reason or no reason. Period.

A buyer comes here to look, maybe buy. They give me their money and I give them a widget. Everybody is happy. Both sides of the transaction are happy and that is it. This is commerce.

Another buyer comes in. This buyer stinks like crap and other buyers are offended by the smell, which disturbs their buying. Sellers don't like anything that disturbs the buying. I ask them to come back when they don't stink. They stomp off, wondering why everyone shouldn't just accept their stink as potpurri. They get a free consultation from an attorney, and sue me for discrimination.

Another buyer comes in. This buyer is foul-mouthed. They also offend the other buyers and disturb the buying. Their language is also in violation of my personal standards and, given that my business is an extension of my beliefs and standards, I don't have to sell anything to them at any price.

Time passes. Another buyer comes in. This buyer is clearly a lesbian of the masculine bent, observed by her language, delivery and attempt to appear as a young boy. My buyers are within visual and hearing range of this buyer, are offended, and their buying is now distracted. They are asked to leave by one of the buyers. They turn to leave. They then demand if I, the owner, also want them to leave. I nod my head. This is the trap that such a law would lay at the feet of business owners.

ANYONE that I or they judge as offensive and, in my or their opinion, disturbs the buying, is asked to leave. I don't care if they are gay or straight, cordial or foul, white or purple, young or old.

I have no personal problem with men who stick their penises into the hot feces of another man, nor do I have anything against women who enjoy a hobby of pretending to be something they were not born with. However, such practices are against what I believe is right. And this is my business. If you want my widget but are intent on being offensive to me or my other buyers, buy it online. I won't have to judge if me or my other buyers are offended by your odor, language or behavior choices, and my buyers won't have to choose between watching the distraction or buying a widget.

Time's up. Back to work.
