Silver is a terrible investment/store of wealth. Change My Mind.

My uncle has been buying and burying silver since the 1960s. And, all those years, he was telling everyone to do the same. Now he's at the end of his life and never saw huge returns on his metals. I'm sure he'd be the first to tell you he should have put his money into some index funds over those years instead.

As for me, I'm under no delusion that silver is going to skyrocket with relation to USD any time soon. Could it happen? Most certainly. The reason I think that is because all of these markets are manipulated. If that manipulation were somehow challenged, and that's a big if, the price relationship would take off. Do I think the manipulators could keep manipulating the price for another 50 years? Hell yes they could. And probably will.

And this is why I buy, primarily, numismatics. I get some metals which would benefit from metal price increase, but I also get the collectability. In the last 25 years or so, my numismatic value has FAR outpaced the metals their made of.
