Can I salvage personal data from a failed OS install drive if I put into another pc? My windows drive (the one I want data from) crashed during a reset of windows, so I'm pretty sure that windows install is toast. I just want some files off of the drive before I reinstall it. My friend has a pc with windows 10, I just want to make it a secondary drive so I can just drag and drop my personal files off of it and then format the drive to install windows again.

Here are some questions that I have: what about my windows 10 key? Its an upgraded windows 7 key and I just to know if its tied to my motherboard maybe, or if I have to re enter it.

Do I have to do anything special for this? I don't want the windows files to interfere with each other. Do I just prioritize this windows drive last as a boot drive?
