Simply stating that you don't believe Black Panther is Oscar worthy is not "being butthurt" or "being racist".

It just feels out of place. It got nominated for Best Picture but didn't get a nom for the seven other major categories. Its director, its screenplay or its actors.

That's only happened with seven other films in the last 50 years. And there have been 294 movies nominated for the best picture oscar in that time.

Compare with the rest of the Best Picture nominees -

  • BlacKkKlansman has director, supporting actor and adapted screenplay nominations. (3)

  • Bohemian Rhapsody has best actor. (1)

  • The Favourite has director, actress, supporting actress twice and original screenplay. (5)

  • Green Book has best actor, supporting actor and original screenplay. (3)

  • Roma has best director, actress, supporting actress and original screenplay. (4)

  • A Star Is Born has best actor, actress, supporting actor and adapted screenplay. (4)

  • Vice has best director, actor, supporting actor, supporting actress and original screenplay. (5)
