Since returning from injury, Matt Murray is 5-0-0 with .959 SV% and 1.38 GAA

There are plenty of teams that have some of the best players of the generation, and who do better. Washington has Ovechkin, Backstrom, Kuznetsov, Holtby.

Winnipeg has Wheeler, Laine, Scheifele.

Boston has Bergeron, Marchand, Pastrnak, McAvoy, Chara, Rask.

New Jersey has Taylor Hall, Butcher.

Toronto has Matthews, Marner, Riley.

Montreal has Drouin, Weber, Price.

Nashville has Foresberg, Arvidson, Subban, Rinne.

Columbus has Atkinson, Bobrovski.

Buffalo has Eichel.

San Jose has Karlsson, Pavelski, Burns, Thornton.

Calgary has Gaudreau, Giordano.

Tampa has Stamkos, McDonagh, Kucherov.

My main point is that many teams have good players, but they’re consistent, or at least have some consistent players. Both Malkin and Crosby had a very slow start this year, but are gaining their points. They need to work harder, and their whole team has to work harder. Currently, their defense isn’t as bad as Toronto’s, but there is a problem if a nobody is going to be making more than Crosby next season.
