The only one I went to of the five WAS that Canes game.
I live about 3 hours away and bought platinums just before 10AM that morning. On the way we stuck on the 401 for an hour between Belleville and Trenton due to a bad accident. Before we got off in Trenton I panicked knowing that I was going to miss the 1st period and attempted to resell the tickets to no avail. We continued on and missed the first available GO train out of Oshawa by literally just seconds...another 15-20 mins lost.
We finally make it to our seats in the second period. The Leafs are up 3-2 and proceed to get dumped on and are quickly down 5-3...I’m like this day can’t get any worse.
3rd peiod comes and I manage to snag one of those parachute prize packs that fell from the rafters. I had no business getting a hand on it but somehow pulled it down and landed right on my ass back in my seat.
Cue the comeback. Turns out to be one of the best regular season games I may ever witness live and in person in my life.
Head back home and stop in the Belleville casino for the buffet before the final trek home...I dunno why but I’m feeling lucky. I walk over to the roulette table with $20 bucks I make a few small bets, red, even etc. I’m up a couple bucks now. My girlfriend puts the last of her money in. I say fuck it...I put $5 on #16 (one dollar for each of Mitchy’s five points).
Dude says: ‘$10 minimum bet in the middle’.
‘Oh, right...’
I toss another $5 chip onto that #16. NUMBER 16 IT IS and this dudes walking home with an extra $350 in his pocket!
