Singapore Government to repeal Section 377A, a penal code that criminalises gay sex between men

I get what you mean, however my counter is that allowing pink dot is just to fix their own image in the world ( look we don’t hate gays) and to release some steam from the mounting pressure (they don’t want a stonewall event to happen) as for arrest for people threatening, no such arrests happened, investigation were open and then closed with no one being punished should not be confused with arrests or convictions, Bryan Lim who threatened to shoot LGBT people, his charges were for threatening violence IN GENERAL and not to protect gay rights or gay people ( like obviously Singapore doesn’t want a mass shooting to happen at all) , yet he was fined $3500 with no prison time and he got to keep his lucrative high management job in Canon afterwards, so much for justice, if Bryan Lim was a Muslim who threatened to shoot Christians in Singapore he’d be in prison today for terrorism, yet here we are.

Yes Singapore law that was just dismantled after decades of abuse did state lashes for the crime of being gay, and gay men did receive lashes ordered by a judge, it’s part of the humiliation to deter gay men from being open alongside jail time.

My last point is we all need to remember that Singapore has no freedom of the press, it’s fully controlled by the government, hence why we don’t hear of the gay men who were charged sentenced and abused by the government, because if they allowed articles about that subject it would look bad worldwide, just because you don’t read about it doesn’t mean it did not happen, it did happen and it will still happen until Singapore enacts laws protecting gay men.( I recommend looking at the civil right movement and law and how white people, police and the government still discriminated, harassed and murdered thousands of black Americans just because they exist, just because a claim of not enforcing a law is said by an official to cool off the pressure dose not mean it’s not abused by local governments and police, we just don’t hear about it because there isn’t freedom of press in Singapore). ranks 139 out of 180 countries freedom of press
