popular skateboarding game on iOS, released a week or two ago on android.
it's like true skate with some significant differences in game mechanics and physics.
all the parks are real locations that you'd have seen in videos... some legendary spots
nicer graphics; more hardware intensive
renders your shoes on the board, which allows the game to detect your stance, which enables switch/fakie tricks, frontside/backside grinds/slides
you unlock levels by copying lines that other players have recorded and by uploading your own lines
there are a few different deck/grip/truck/wheel combinations built into the game, along with different actual skate shoes, but no custom graphics
manuals are easier
stomping tricks is a bit harder
the mechanics of catching a trick and stomping it are a bit more accurate feeling.. timing is more important in this one
the game will kind of auto pilot you onto a nearby rail or ledge sometimes
harder to play one handed... you need two hands to properly time your pop/flick in this one
doesn't seem to score tricks in any way
executing 180/360s whatever body spins uses a different method... true skate you just do a shove and hold the spin button... skater, you slide a spin bar before popping, kinda like winding up your shoulders irl
so far, it's been a bit buggy... trick detection is a bit off at time... there are glitches where you'll spin out or the game will detect a revert when there wasn't one and things like that.
all in all, with the bugs and whatnot, it's still a pretty rad game, and i'd recommend it to true skate players for sure, and anyone who is even moderately into skateboarding.
