[Skin Concerns] Help! My dehydrated skin won't seem to heal up even after focusing on hydrating

I tend to have dry dehydrated skin and I had to change my routine because my skin was really dry, flaky and irritated. I even started using a humidifier but that didn’t work for me at all. I think my problem was that there was too much dead skin and clogged pores.

I stopped using Thayers facial toner, cleansing my face in the morning, added TO glycolic acid 2-3 a week and changed my moisturizer. I was using Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion but I needed something with more moisture so I got FAB Ultra Repair.

I never really used a lot of products before but my skin was just feeling so congested, really dry and flaky that I knew I needed a change. I bought Trader Joe’s Blueberry and Açaí scrub just to take out the flakes. I use it very gently about once a month now, if that.

In the morning I wash my face with cold water, Vitamin C serum (I just started this 2 weeks ago), moisturize with Hydro Boost and FAB, sunblock.

In the evening I use micellar water, wash my face with Cetaphil, glycolic acid (2-3x week), moisturize with FAB. Alternate nights, CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum (just added this this week). On nights I don’t use the toner or serum I moisturize with Hydro Boost and FAB.

It took my skin about a month and half before the flakes completely went away and I was able to use the glycolic acid without it burning and I slowly incorporated the other things.

I also use FAB Facial Intensive AHA Peel every 2 weeks or so. I’m still trying to build up to 3 minutes but my face looks clean and feels smooth afterwards.
