[Skin Concerns] Is laser skin resurfacing a good idea? Short term AND long term benefits?

I had acne for decades before discovering the three-acid pads and picked at it so I have scars and sun damage. I have so many questions/concerns about these lasers. It's $3k but I'm relatively rich so the cost isn't a big deal. I'd be willing to pay $3k if it gave me long-lasting benefits.

If it works by encouraging cell turnover, couldn't that cause premature aging? I'm worried there could be negative effects in the long term. It seems like people don't know.

I'm also concerned the short-term effects are negligible. I see some great before & after photos, but I see equally great before & after photos with everything that anyone is trying to sell. It's easy to get good before & after photos.

I don't have much of a skincare regime right now. I use some tri-acid face wipes (Salicylic Acid 2%, Glycolic Acid 5%, Lactic Acid 5%) almost daily and retin-a maybe once per week or so. I don't use sunscreen / moisturizer much - I spend most of my time outside (I love biking / skating / boarding) but I'm in Seattle so UV index is often low, and I wear hats.
