SkinnyFat guy who needs help. Male/20%BF/141lbs/64kg/5'11/180.4cm

Hey man. I'm also an 140lb skinny fat guy. I'm 5'9 and according to the people of reddit, around 20% body fat as well - soft/fat-ish chest and stomach, but skinny arms and legs. I can't tell you what works yet as I haven't gotten out of my situation yet, but what I can tell you is what I'm going to do based on a ton of research, as well as what people told me in this sub when I made my own post. It got around 100 replies, and almost everyone gave the same advice... so I'm taking it. Here it is:

Lift weights 3-4x a week while focusing on compound lifts. Do your best to get stronger every workout or at least every week, and eat healthy. Get around 140g of protein per day, and be consistent. Since your main goal is cutting the body fat down first (as is mine), eat in a deficit, but no more than 500 calories below maintence. You could eat at maintenance too and do a recomp, but it's entirely up to you. My arms and legs can't get much skinnier, so cutting would make me feel better about myself in the fastest way possible. Untrained lifters can also build muscle at maintence, and even in a deficit, so get lifting.

Stick with it. I know it's tough because I look in the mirror everyday and hate what I see. I spent god knows how long trying to figure out if I should cut or bulk. Everyone gives you a different answer. I decided to commit to what will make me happiest the quickest. I wish you all the best. If the advice I was given doesn't work for me, I may have to shell out some money and get a trainer. Then I'll really have great advice!
