Skipping Levels

1) That sounds like you’d have to go externally to do that which I know a few who did including me, but this wiki is speaking about it internally.

2) I’m pretty sure VPs aren’t looking at the applications lol. You’d have to reach out to a VP either yourself, one of your connections, or the hiring team reaches out.

3) You also have to realize, just because you applied to a higher position & got it doesn’t mean that the request to approve you for it didn’t pass through a VP first. The hiring team could’ve consulted with a VP or a manager above them without your knowledge to get you approved for a higher level…

4) You’d have to actually read the wiki page because it was strictly talking about non-exempt Tier 1/Tier 3 jumping above 1 exempt role & not talking about all levels (L4+) needing approval to be able to jump multiple levels.

5) A candidate who has the prior experience and/or the educational background for a higher level is an outlier in this case & not relevant because either way they could get the position internally or externally. I would bet that candidates like that are a different story & have exceptions or work arounds for them…

Yes, I intentionally did not mention a lot that this wiki page said to not get in too much trouble sharing it publicly.

There’s a difference between candidates who are outliers & overqualified because they didn’t pick a position that their correct level vs candidates at the correct level but are exceptional at their level above the rest & did more in less time
