SKS scout build suggestions.

So I want to mount a scope on my SKS without bubbaing it.

I'd appreciate any suggestions for a rail mount like I described.

Then you might as well not mount a scope because it's going to wander and in amounts best measured in degrees, not arcminutes.

I would like it to be a tasteful scout-type build.

There is no such thing.

I'd appreciate... ...any general advice for what a scout rifle should have.

The scout rifle concept was an excellent idea for the first half of the 20th century, but was entirely obsolete by 1970 and the Scout Rifle wasn't even a thing until the mid 80s. Then you have 7.62x39 which is going to need about 80% more energy before we can talk about it in scout rifle context, and an SKS barreled action alone weighs out.

The merit of a Scout Rifle or even a Scout Rifle-influenced firearm is nil. The idea is dumb, full stop. If you want a scout rifle get an AR-10. You want something that isn't an AR? Get a SCAR 17S. You want something you can afford? Get an AR10, or better yet an AR-15 since you're considering intermediate calibers.

✓ short-action cartridge
✓ stripper clip compatible through the mag well or with the takedown pin popped (note that stripper clip compatibility is a relic of the entirely unfounded fudd distrust in detachable magazines, but we'll include it anyway)
✓ higher-end triggers like the SSA-E are alright
✓ an eight pound AR unloaded with glass isn't even difficult ✓ backup iron sights are somewhat unnecessary with 21st century optics but if you want to add weight the rail space is there
✓ whatever kind of sling your silly heart desires
✓ 2 MOA at 200 yards all day ✓
