This fact doesn't disprove global warming, but ignoring it will only make things worse. I grew up in California, as a kid we were taught about controlled burns and how they help mitigate massive fires. However in recent years there have been strict regulations about burns and other forest cleanup efforts by hyper-environmentalists that freak out if you even touch the forest. In Lake Tahoe, for example, you're required to get a permit to remove dead trees from your own damn property, and if you don't can be fined thousands of dollars.
