idk its kinda controversial but my bf has somewhat extreme reflexes and if i dont want to get hurt i have to make sure he doesnt get hurt by me on accident. for example we were joking in the kitchen and he was about to turn away as he just said sth pretty shocking and funny so i put my hand on his chest as in 'hol up really?' but it turned out to make a rlly loud sound not bc i slapped him hard but bc sometimes hand+air+surface does that and i immediately got slapped on the side of my head pretty hard. he said he already slowed himself and opened up his fist so it would turn into a slap rather than a punch. he felt bad later but asked me if i was aware that it was my fault too. i know its not what i was taught as a child but his logic is fine with me. if i dont want to get hurt i have to be more careful too. to come back to OPs story, if the partner knows that the girl got slapped bc she fucked with OP, she shouldnt be scared of him bc she would understand that he wont hurt her unless she attacks him first.
