It's not true that exercising is horrible way to go about if you want to lose weight.
It is bad if you *ONLY* exercise, but even then, its NOT bad, just not optimal...
Best thing is to do both

I've been losing weight last 4 months and I lost about 20kg(45 lbs) in that time. Aside from losing weight, I also gained a lot of muscle and stamina(not even able to compare beginning and now).

I did implement intermittent fasting in the equation(eating from 3PM-9PM, sleep around 11:30PM), and I try to do gym 6 times a week. People(especially older people) are telling me that breakfast is most important meal, but it is all about how you feel and what suits YOU. It is about calories deficit, and just spend more calories than you take in. Why I started intermittent fasting? Because I realized I can not (couldn't, now it is much easier because I know why I do it) control myself, so instead of eating less of sweets/unhealthy food/drinks, I don't eat them at all.

I would recommend anyone who needs to lose weight to start working on it. It is not going to change itself and you have to make decision by yourself. Results are coming slow, but they are so rewarding. Wearing shirt you couldn't put on for few years. Shirts are not tight as they were before. You can walk for 30 minutes without breaking sweat.
