In my experience - the campus has not, in recent years, ever been largely on the right-wing. Usually, the conservative backlash is only a direct response to absolutely ridiculous situations like above, where the left goes off the deep end. In between these events, the campus is fairly centred and the majority of students are neutral.

The most recent events would be The Daily referendum - The Daily is currently a very left-wing paper, and the "No" campaign was a response by more conservative students.

Another example is the BDS movement - this movement is largely supported by far left activists and groups. The whole "Noah Lew" incident is, in a way, the conservative response again.

I think that over the past years, the "left-wing" drama has really built up in people's memories. Also, I find it has become more disturbing in a way. Like SSMU executives publicly fighting and harassing each other, our school being spread as being antisemitic to worldwide Jewish communities, and a historical newspaper (despite that it currently sucks) having over one third of the school vote against its existence. I don't know, in a way, I feel like the "tolerance" for left-wing shenanigans has just gone down a lot.
