Small warning for users of this sub about the guy marketing his "Master Arabic" book earlier today

Thank you for your vigilance in this matter. We do take the matter of scammers and spammers quite seriously, and so I will be looking into the issue myself to see whether or not a ban is warranted, especially if vote manipulation is involved.

Just to be clear, we do tolerate self-promotion so long as it adheres to the guidelines of reddiquette. The general rule is that self-promotion should only take up about 10% of a user's links and comments. That being said, we rarely calculate the exact percentage. I may need to do that in this case.

The world of language learning is full of big egos making grandiose claims about their own abilities and selling themselves at a premium price. Sometimes this means it can be difficult to distinguish a genuine scam from that which is merely the product of someone's overly inflated ego. But again, if false advertising and vote manipulation are involved, then that's where it crosses the line.
