So smart!

But keep in mind that switch was wayyyyy behind when it first came out. Nintendo knew that it was and knew that they could placate their audiences with a great Zelda game once every 3 years, an occasional Metroid drop, and a few wash, rinse and repeat Mario games. So graphically they're 8 years behind. They have their demographic tho and have not bothered to update their beyond outdated technologies by using gimmicks such as motion controllers and a hybrid handheld/TV console system. I was raised on Nintendo, and have owned every system they've ever released but haven't remotely even considered them as an actual console competitor for years now. It's a novelty around the house. I offered my 13 year old a Switch as an option for Christmas and she said she would rather play games on my 6 year old Xbox one. Their key fanbase is players 13-22. I eagerly awaited the release of every Nintendo system that has come out since I was a kid. I've couldn't give a shit nowadays. I gave my son my switch after I beat Breath of the Wild. Nintendo is riding on family friendliness, nostalgia, and the Japanese obsession with Nintendo whether it's gold or a massive turd with a Nintendo logo on it. They do have some good games and some great franchises but for an adult their offerings are paltry compared to Playstation, or Xbox, or Steam. They offering middling graphics and outdated performance at premium prices. Their game developers are holding this system aloft while the system itself is way below the current industry standard. Even the licensed peripherals are made cheaply and of substandard products. An extra hard fart can render a joy con useless but somehow it still cost more than an Xbox controller or a PS controller, which just short of firing a ballistic missile into, will still functioning even after the most grievous of offenses. And while other companies offered 2.5 versions of their consoles between the cycles to improve load times, download speeds, and enhanced graphics, Nintendo was good with the status quo while still charging over 300 dollars for what basically equates to a PS2 with Zelda.
