Smog documentary blocked by China after becoming viral hit

Chinese here. After doing some research on this documentary, I am sad to say that it is removed from the majority of video sites while copies of the video is still being uploaded on some sites (yes I can see it). However it is not blocked on Baidu, the Chinese search engine, so it is still open for discussion.

Now we get to the interesting part. The funny thing is people.com.cn, a website commonly acknowledged to be the hub of government news that is controlled by the government, had it up before. It is taken down now. So I would say the documentary is definitely acknowledged by the Chinese government. It has been a huge topic on various online news outlets. Everyone, including the president is talking about it. I am guessing it is removed due to the CPPCC being held, but the reason is beyond me.

Aside from the whole censorship or not hooey. There has been tons of controversy surrounding the documentary itself. Now now, don't just say "Chinese people are brainwashed." We know everything, seriously. People knows how to get around stuff, trust me.

Anyways, I digress. It is somehow proven that the documentary has a lot of miscalculation and misleading information. If you understand Chinese, here is the analysis. (Call your Chinese friend to translate it for you I don't know). But since it is still not proven that there are any wrong information about the analysis, it could go both way. My suggestion is remain neutral.

Also there are some dissatisfaction about Chai herself. Chai said that she did this for her daughter and a major portion of the documentary is about, you guessed it, her daughter. Some people say that she is guilt tripping the audience, that she is selfish to some extent. After all, such a large amount of personal involvement in a documentary may be seen as strange. There are also said to be some Guanxi works in it, based on the fact that she acknowledged President Xi's brother in the credit. You can really look at it both ways.

All in all, I personally think smog is a really serious problem and I by all means wish the government would treat it effectively. To me relief, we are currently working on it. Chai's documentary is, whether legitimate or not, a warning bell that helped China bring up this topic once again, and I hope they remains consistent with their work.
