Aghanim's Scepter: adds the Global Tether ability

  • If Io tries to tether a unit that is 700 units or further away, Io will latch on and pull itself with a speed of 1000 closer to the target (to a distance of 300). [same as normal Tether]

  • Io can not Relocate allied units with Global Tether.

  • Overcharge only works within 1800 range of the Global Tethered unit.

  • Only one Tether can be active at a time. Activating Global Tether will immediately break Tether and vice-versa.

Cooldown: 12

Global Tether movement speed bonus/slow/slow duration: same as normal Tether (17%, 100/100% slow, 2.25 seconds)

Global Tether duration: 12

Manacost: 100

Notes:

  • So this would basically allow Io to turn into global Spider-Man and pull himself from any point on the map to any allied unit. It's another form of global teleportation but not really: even with a pull speed of 1000 when Tethering, it will still take (I'm just guessing) 8-12 seconds to fly across the map to the Global Tethered unit.

  • At level 16 with Aghanim's Scepter, Io will have 958.6 mana (299 base mana + 353.6 from INT growth + 26 from 1 stat point + 150 from Aghanim's + 130 from Agh's INT). So the 100 manacost can be increased to prevent spamming, but with Tether/Spirits/Relocate/Overcharge drain + Mekansm, I'm not sure Io can afford to Global Tether every 12 seconds or so.

  • Relocate should be not useable with Global Tether for obvious reasons. In order to save an allied Hero from across the map, Io would need to Global Tether all the way there (again, could be anywhere from 6-12 seconds) to 1800 range, then use Tether, and then wait for Relocate delay. So global saves are possible, it just takes a long ass time.

  • Overcharge should not apply either unless within 1800 range (the max range it can be applied with normal Tether). The Global Tethered unit will already get movement speed, so being able to apply 20% damage reduction globally seems too strong and would greatly increase the likelihood that Io can get there in time to Relocate out.

  • Keep in mind that Global Tethering an allied Hero will allow them to dictate what terrain you pass over, but Global Tethering a lane creep will force you to pass over terrain as that lane creep moves even faster with the movement speed bonus. Later in the game when Blink Daggers start popping up, it's definitely risky to Global Tether across the fog of war and possibly get caught out, so it's not a guaranteed safe trip across the map.

Example: if you're on Dire at the very top left corner and you Global Tether a lane creep at bottom lane the moment it spawns, that creep (now with bonus movement speed) will be at or past the Dire bottom Tier 2 tower by the time you get there.

  • Basic Io item build would be something like: Tranquils + Urn + Wand. For ~4200 gold give or take, you could have the following items: Force Staff + Mekansm (4550), Mekansm + Ghost Scepter (3900), Force Staff + Ghost Scepter (3850). I'm not sure when Io would pick this up exactly other than as a luxury item.

I've seen some other ideas such as being able to cancel Relocate prematurely (pretty boring imo), but Aghanim's Scepter upgrades (especially the recent ones) have added either new abilities or a new dynamic to the Hero not previously seen. I think this qualifies. Thoughts?
