Tbh only on the internet have I seen people be so completely sanctimonious about people who've uncovered cheating by snooping through phones. In real life the overwhelming majority of people aren't going to tell off their friends or relatives or whoever else for their method of discovery.

I'm not celebrating snooping or anything, but I think online people lose their sense of priorities and become fixated on 'But you know you did something wrong too, right? Right?' even when someone just found out that they've been cheated on for years with multiple people and their whole life has just come crashing down. It's annoyingly picky.

So yes, it's wrong, but in some situations people have been saved from marrying and having children and huge debts (like buying a house) with a cheater by snooping. And personally I'm not going to berate them for that.
