Snorkeled and found a GoPro at bottom of Blackrocks in Marquette last weekend. Anyone recognize this family so I can return it?

Speaking as a local, they look like tourists - and these days that could mean anyone from TX to AUS and everything in between.

Also as a local, and I know this will make me seem like an asshole:

The UP in general, but especially the Keweenaw peninsula and the MQT-Grand Marais corridor, has been receiving the hug of death in a very tangible way in the last decade. Overwhelmingly irresponsible use of public land combined with wildly inadequate regulation/maintenance, largely on the federal level, has contributed to the inarguable and unprecedented degradation of Lake Superior's southside shores and ecosystems. I know that this place is beautiful. I love it too. But drones, GoPros, and touring videos are hurting it so, so, so badly in confluence with the utter inability to manage traffic/gross incompetence of federal management bureaus here.

Again, I know I'm being the asshole. But I just want the people who come here from elsewhere to know that our federal mngmt is terrible and that they need to take extra care - I know you all want that group selfie or that drone vid, but fucking think about what you're doing. Don't climb out beyond fences just because there isn't a ranger present. These are riparian zones on the Great fucking Lakes, which contain 20% of Earth's fresh surface water and ~90% of the US's fresh surface water. And riparian zones (the meeting of land and water, basically) are nearly invariably the areas richest in biodiversity. Don't fucking ruin that because you want a neat instagram picture.

Also, as an un-fuck-you: Presque (where this was taken) is not federal! It's a city-managed park. However, the general trip these folks were likely taking is around one of the Great Lakes.

I'm not sure if I'm ashamed of myself for being so angry, or even more angry for being angry.

Hmmm.
