Snowfall was ruined by the finale

owfall had the potential to be a truly epic series, until the show's writers decided to abruptly and radically change direction. Last season with the show with the tiger for example, seemed utterly ridiculous and unrealistic. And why did Skully suddenly become so civilized all of a sudden? Nevertheless, I was still enthralled by Snowfall, mainly because I knew this was the last season and it was inevitable some beloved characters would die. Jerome's death was particularly hard to swallow since he was one of the most stand up characters on the show - he stood out for his unshakeable loyalty (not something easily found in the drug game). His demise really hit home, but it felt right that Jerome died an honorable death due to his principles and his unwavering love for Louie, proving you can't always escape unscathed from the drug world..
And I was very happy to see Leon's transformation. He was in fact very enlightened and he was a man that had gone through the fire and seen the light and if we can say that someone came out transformed it would have to be him and Wanda. This was a wonderful story line. Which brings me to Franklin and Louie and Oso, but by the way Teddy was a piece of shit and I never really understood his mission. Can somebody please explain to me why was this man so entrenched in this mission? I know what the mission was but What the hell was motivating this man to this degree? But back to Franklin and Louie who had the most disappointing outcomes. Let's begin with Louie first. If we are going to be clear, she deserved a horrible death or prison not Sissy. And I am saying this solely based on the TV show. Me personally I never like seeing brothers or sisters imprisoned in real life especially if you're not violent. I don't believe no person should be incarcerated for drugs over ten years, no matter what amount if you haven't killed anyone
But Louie deserved incarceration more than Sissy and we're supposed to believe that she is going to be happy somewhere working on a farm. Okay she is from Arkansas but she's a city girl who has been rich and she's seen too much of LA and too much money to be content somewhere milking cows. Let's be clear. Its not who she is. Like Jay Z said "No matter where you go, you are what you are playerAnd you can try to change but that's just the top layer man, you was who you was 'fore you got here."
That makes no sense the writers rushed that one.
And Oso, where the hell is he? Somewhere teaching wrestling. I'm supposed to believe that? I believe that just as much as I believe Louie is happy on a farm. Now I did love the bond that had developed between Franklin and Oso and Oso was overall a good character,At last we come to Franklin Saint's ending, which was completely unexpected and almost insulting. The writers want us to believe that this man is responsible for many deaths and was present when his mother killed a CIA agent - yet he walks away scot-free, becoming an alcoholic within the space of one episode. This is an unlikely fall from grace; in reality, Franklin should have been sent to prison. It's well known that drug dealers on his level face jail time. Was there not a drug dealer or even a former cop amongst the writing team who could have told them that this outcome was unrealistic? When Leon handed him a twenty-dollar bill at the end, his eyes lit up with joy. Even though you might assume he's come down in the world financially, if you've ever had millions and a state of the art kitchen in the nineties(HaHa) a twenty-dollar bill just isn't that exciting. That brings to mind his baby mama who appeared out of nowhere either last year or the season before that. You could tell right away she was up to something and so was her mom. Dealers like that know how to use women from different walks of life—they don't marry them.A good friend of mine pointed out where Leon pointed out that the reason Sissy killed Teddy was to save Franklin, she didn't want him to have the money and I can't definitely see that, but why? This is who they were and they were too damn deep in at this point. This made absolutely no sense if this was the case because she save is life and he becomes alcoholic in one episode, unless I missed him drinking earlier, the writers should have had him drinking all season to foreshadow this transformation I'd much have rather seen him shoot it out with the police or blow his own damn brains out and somebody tell me Where the fuck is Skully? And we should have at least seen that ugly baby mama on and island with sipping and an umbrella drink playing with baby Franklin.
My overall opinion is that the show was mediocre; it had potential to reach The Wire's level of greatness, but failed and rolled John Singleton in his grave. Nonetheless, it was much better than the other shows in the Power Universe. Among them, I think Raising Kanan stands out above the rest, while BMF—which should have been the best—is just okay.
