Social beauty ideals

Beauty isn't defined by race but cultures in my world. Most of the people from Northern Ojai are obsessed with health. This is partly because of its nice warm weather throughout the year. Good skin, no acne, no scars, a well-built body are a must to be successful around here. There are no laws regarding appearance but social pressure extends to doors being built very narrow (but tall) to prevent overweight people entering some buildings. Clothing is light and comfortable and body contouring is common among some people.

Southern Ojai, also called Maudi or Madika is a bit different from the North. There is little sunlight and the people developed indoors. They are a very high-tech country, but that comes with its flaws. It is rare to see people excesize in the cities, yet many are thin from overworking. The culture focuses on colors. Everyone seems to have dyed hair and some even go as far to inject pigmentation into their bodies and get permanent nail dyes. The people from Madika look very similar and like to look unique in every way. This is why they go to great lengths to make their appearance different and dramatized.

The islanders nearby have their own little beauty ideals such as face piercings, nail removal, and stitching. People from the mainland see them as sort of "monsters" but they are protected by the government.
