Social life for Study Abroad student, outside of drinking?

hey, your concern is totally fair, but i don't think you have anything to worry about.

people are very relaxed if you say you don't drink, and no one will force you to do it. (or no one good will force you, anyway.) when i went out with my friends or went to social events i always had the option to be sober and drink other things. i would go to pub quizzes at various places across the city, the big cheese, the library bar, so on, and no one ever really had an issue with it.

so you'll be okay. the one thing that might pose an issue is non big cheese clubs, since you'll encounter a high volume of drunk people and being sober with drunk people isn't fun. but i found clubbing wasn't typically a communal experience and pubs or teviot are the preferred places for societies to gather.

if you have any other qs about u of e feel free to dm!!
