'The Social Recession' — Less friends, relationships on the decline, delayed adulthood, trust at an all-time low, and many diseases of despair. The prognosis is not great.

Because she's been conditioned to be that way, I wouldn't take it personally. We don't design communal spaces that exercise our communal bonds. We build these awful suburban fiefdoms where we need to travel huge distances to interact with others. We build cities where our idea of a social space is a starbucks or some shitty corporate sports bar with 20 screens showing sports events. We pave over parks to expand our highways and parking lots to meet the never ending induced demand of cars that can never be filled. We let Facebook monetize our social interactions which means everything we do online is now an exercize in branding and sensationalism. We gave everything in our social lives to satisfy corporations who don't even pay us for the ever increasing productivity of our economy. Yeah, we're depressed because we let corporations take over our social lives and all they do is try and invent ways to squeeze more money out of us and commercialise our social spaces. Until we do something about that it will just keep getting worse.
