We are not that homogenous though. Our tax rates are not that bad. You pay about 26-30 % income tax from average pay. The middle class and upper middle class are just fine, actually the middle class is really strong. The gap between poor and middle class isn't that bad. The quality of life is great, getting a great education isn't a problem even if you are poor. Low crime rates because of our social policies. Healthcare is solid and cheap. But one thing we lack, we do not have billionares.
Just some of my feelings as someone from a Nordic country.
P.S. It' so weird reading the comments of Americans in this thread. It seems some of them know nothing at all about the Northern countries, but love to opine about them. (I don't aim this at you specifically)
