According to whom? There are as many different kinds of communists/socialists as there are capitalists; certainly not all capitalists would like to see freedom of speech, do you think then we should discredit all of capitalism because of this?

We cannot compel people to give up idealism, any more than we can force them to embrace Marxism. The only way to settle questions of an ideological nature or controversial issues among the people is by the democratic method, the method of discussion, criticism, persuasion and education, and not by the method of coercion and repression.
