Socialist Kshama Sawant declares victory in tightly contested Seattle City Council race

Honest question, do you think people are going to build more housing if they know their rent increases will be capped? I don’t really want to argue that ridiculous rent increases are a good thing, but the alternative you’re suggesting will make it worse for everyone. When rents sky rocket, that $15/hr minimum wage isn’t going to do squat. Tech workers are going to make much more in order to compensate for it too. The wealth divide will be insane and you’ll be looking at a San Francisco level crisis. Seattle will accelerate towards becoming a city for the affluent. I just can’t, in good conscience, support a candidate who wants to do this. This is a deal breaker to me, IMO.
