[SocJus] Alina Polianskaya / Design Week - "Are video games inherently sexist? Designers and game makers discuss"

one example is a survivor called Ellie in the apocalyptic game, The Last of Us, who is a secondary character to her brother in the original game

Wait, wait . . . Joel is Ellie's brother? Did I miss that part of the game or was that a mistake on the writer's part? Are we thinking of the same game here? Post-apocalyptic, brick-throwing, tug-at-your-heartstrings Last of Us?

The remark about Fortnite is a bit of a reach, I think, as the character's gender really has nothing to do with how it's played. That's mainly the Battle Royale and Save the World stuff.

I think that just shows that this article is all over the place. Couldn't she have focused on certain types/genres of video games instead of video games as a whole? That would've been a lot more helpful, as there are so many different kinds of them, and they don't all work the same way or have the same conventions.
