Solar-powered Robot Wolves are protecting the crops of Japanese farmers

Well, "AI" these days is just a buzzword for "stuff that magically works on its own, and makes machine learning geeks cream in their pants, but doesn't really contain anything that can be considered real/general intelligence, no matter what said geeks and the related corporates marketing it try to make it sound like". So don't really think that it's all that advanced.

Even if the robot is just designed to patrol in a specific area, it would still require things like visual recognition, the ability to figure out how to move around in rough terrain that contains obstacles, the ability to get up in case it falls, and such, all of which would make it roughly as AI-equipped as a self-driving car, and actually a bit more. Adding voice commands on top of that isn't much either, since all phones have that these days.

Japan has already produced robotic dog pets that can go around at home on their own and interact with their owner, so when I saw these, I was hoping for something of an equal technological level. Hence why I felt a little disappointed to know that it's just a stationary statue with a motor head and an audio board.
