First of all, the comment that I replied to was purely theoretical. Just a general assertion that the US is not the best in everything. No personal concrete reason why someone left, but an general egalitarian pose trying to bring other countries up. No substance. I can stop right there.

Second, there was no mention of family whatsoever in that comment. That was brought up afterwards, when it became blatantly clear a life in the US is not that bad for developers.

Third, living in gated community was just an example to paint a picture, an unimportant detail, that some who replied to it got obsessed about as if that was the main argument. It's like talking about the benefits of electric cars, showing a red Tesla, ... and a loud opinionated retard starts yelling that other colors are good too and that red is actually disgusting.
